About

Public Services and the transition toward a functional, efficient, and sustainable environmental system represent the central theme of the 2026 edition of the International Environment Forum.

The International Environment Forum is a policy debate platform dedicated to environmental professionals, public authorities, industry, and civil society. It was launched in 2024 by INFOMEDIU EUROPA, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests.

Building on previous editions, the 2026 edition aims to highlight the essential role of environmental public services in implementing European policies, achieving sustainability targets, and driving real transformation in local communities.

Thematic pillars of FIM 2026

Environmental Public Services

These are analyzed as the critical infrastructure of the green transition – from collection and treatment to financing, performance, and public accountability. FIM 2026 approaches public services not as an administrative obligation, but as a strategic instrument for the implementation of environmental policies.

Legislative challenges and European developments

The 2026 edition will address the impact of new European regulations, with a focus on packaging, waste, eco-design of products, and the expansion of responsibilities across the economic value chain. The debates will examine how these changes translate into concrete obligations for authorities, operators, and producers.

Financial instruments and innovative green financing models

FIM 2026 creates a dedicated dialogue space on environmental financing: economic mechanisms, European funds, support schemes, market instruments, and financing models that can support investments in environmental infrastructure and public services.

Circular economy at sectoral level

Key material flows and sectors – packaging, plastics, batteries, textiles, construction waste, and bio-waste – will be analyzed in practical terms, focusing on implementation, responsibilities, real capacities, and economic impact. The circular economy is addressed as an operational process, not just a strategic objective.

Advanced environmental technologies

Participants will have access to state-of-the-art solutions and technologies for collection, sorting, recycling, treatment, and monitoring, with an emphasis on their integration into public services and existing systems.

Public-private partnerships and governance

FIM 2026 promotes dialogue between public administration, industry, and civil society as the foundation for developing functional, transparent, and efficient partnerships. Governance is analyzed as a key factor for stability, investment, and long-term performance.

Through this structure, the International Environment Forum strengthens its role as a working platform focused on practical solutions, decision-making, and implementation, within a continuously evolving European and national context.
